There are two features of particular interest. Firstly, there's an air quality sensor which detects the quality of the air in the immediate environment which then, based on the sensor readings, automatically adjusts the appliance's settings. Secondly, there are extra ways of controlling the appliance. These are the "Clean Home+" App and the Alexa voice control.

We now look at the features:

  • Suitability - The Philips AC2936/33 Series 2000i Air Purifier is for use around the house, including in kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and bedrooms. It works in rooms up to 85 square metres in size, with a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of up to 330 cubic metres per hour. It will purify a 20 square metre room in only 9 minutes.
  • Filtration - The air purifier has a three stage filter. The first stage is a pre-filter that catches the larger particles such as dust and hair. The second is an activated charcoal filter that takes away gases and odours. Lastly, there's a NanoProtect HEPA filter which captures ultra-fine particles as small as 0.003 microns in size such as allergens, pollen, etc. Up to 99.97% of such particles are removed.
  • Modes - The appliance has four modes - Auto, Sleep, Gentle and Turbo. "Auto" adjusts the appliance based on the air quality sensor readings. "Sleep" dims the lights and runs the appliance more quietly. "Gentle" lowers the fan speed, so that you can read a book for example. "Turbo" runs the unit at its maximum.
  • Air Quality Sensor / Indicator - The Philips AC2936/33 Series 2000i has a sophisticated air quality sensor which monitors the current air quality. It then reacts automatically when the mode is set to "Auto". There's also a colour coded indicator that shows the current air quality.
